Upon completion of this course, the learner will:

  • understand the concept of energy balance

  • be aware of methods for assessing dietary intake
  • appreciate the principle of positive nitrogen balance
  • understand the role and impact of pre-hydration, hydration, dehydration, and re-hydration

  • be familiar with evidence-based practice in support of nutritional and recovery strategies
  • be familiar with commonly used diets in sport and their impact, or lack of it, on performance
  • be familiar with issues relating to supplements in sport
  • be in a position to give sound basic nutritional advice to athletes and players

  • demonstrate an understanding of handling nutritional advice from nutritional professionals to assist individual players if required
